What Exactly Is Thank Your Cleaner Day?

Created in 2015 to show appreciation for all the hard work and effort our professional cleaners do in the background in order to keep our work and home environments clean and safe.  Since its inception 7 years ago Thank Your Cleaner Day has spread from New Zealand across the world, and now has even been recognised at the World Federation Building Services Congress (WFBSC) in Berlin. Thank Your Cleaner day became much more prevalent and gained international recognition during times of Covid19 when the public realised just how important the work that our professional cleaners do every day and usually unnoticed.  In fact, professional cleaning staff were on the frontline of the fight against Coronavirus C19 as they are on the frontline against many other pathogens in medical centres and hospitals across the globe. One day annually to show appreciation for the unsung heroes of our homes and workspaces is a small ask.

We've put together a list of ideas to help you say Thank You to your cleaner on the 19th of October for international Thank Your Cleaner Day.

A card: just a few lines to tell your cleaner in your own words how you appreciate the work they do.

Chocolates: It doesn't matter if your cleaner is a man or woman, we're sure that every human loves chocolates so this little thank-you gift is always a winner.

Flowers: Even if there's a language barrier between you and your professional cleaner we're pretty sure a bunch of flowers is the international symbol of appreciation. However, if buying flowers for your cleaner feels too romantic, there's always the option of a potted plant.

Tips: If you're very busy and didn't get the time to buy something, leaving a tip for your cleaner is a way to say, thank you and that I appreciate the work you do.

Words: When all else fails, just a few simple words can really make a person feel appreciated so how about this year on the 19th of October you actually go ahead and tell your cleaner how much you appreciate all the hard work and effort the put into keeping your place clean and tidy.
